Not worth the money,
I bought this ebook when I saw the author mention it on a poor skills group. I don’t know what planet the author is living on to insist that someone can live a full life on minimum wage, go out and do all kinds of activities, and so on. Politicians try to insist that minimum wage is plenty to live on. Well this single can tell you it’s not. I rent a part of a bedroom I share with another roommate (we have bunk beds), and I bike to work, utilities are billed at flat rate of $50 a month I buy all my clothes used and mend them instead of replacing (my wardrobe is a pair of jeans, 2 pairs of slacks for work, 4 t-shirts, 2 shirts for work, 8 pairs of socks, 8 pairs of boxers, a sweater, and a winter coat, and 2 pairs of shoes, that’s it). and except for this book my library doesn’t have, I get my books from libraries. I don’t have a cell phone, and I eat cheaply. None of what this book said was any help. All I can think is maybe she’s living in an area where rent is $300 a month for a full apartment but that’s not where I live. The $1000 a month I make has taxes taken out, about 25% right there is gone. I had to opt out of insurance because I couldn’t afford to pay $263 a month. This is poverty, it’s not living a fulfilling life. I think the author might secretly be a conservative politician trying to make us all think that the poor can afford more taxes. I’m going to see if I can get my money back for this book.

Love this book!,
If you are over the age of twenty-five and you have watched the average American 8-year-old open all their fancy electronic Christmas presents, you may occasionally think… “Wow, I wish they’d had all that cool stuff available when *I* was a kid.”
I felt something similar when reading this book. As a thirty-something professional whose minimum-wage days are far in the past, I can’t tell you how many times while reading that I thought: “I WISH I had this book back then!” Living Single on Minimum Wage is not simply another collection of “money-saving tips” or “financial advice” (neither of which I find helpful on their own), but an actual comprehensive, workable plan for living on a low income. And I do not mean “existing” or “getting by”, but LIVING. The authors cover everything from the basics of and reasoning behind having a budget, to healthful, tasty one-dollar meal recipes, to clothing, decorations, romantic relationships, physical and emotional health, and much more. And if you’re worried this will be yet another dry, boring financial advice book, rest easy! The authors’ writing style is friendly, personable, down-to-earth, and full of real-life examples. The authors introduce and explain simple yet brilliant financial principles (some of these principles were new to me, much to my chagrin and delight). Their explanations are clear and concise, never tedious or long-winded. Above all, this book is fun to read!
When I bought it, I wondered privately whether this book was really going to have anything to offer me since my current income is so much greater than minimum wage. In hindsight, I can guarantee you that no matter your age or station in life, anyone who makes or spends money (and who doesn’t?)will find this book not only helpful, but EXTREMELY helpful.
I would highly recommend this book to high-school and college students who have not yet entered the workforce; to anyone living on a limited income; or to anyone seeking an entertaining read and an improved financial life all in one package.
